The Everyday Life of a Washington DC Child Photographer

Hi I’m Emily. I am a Washington, DC fine art child and family photographer. I am the photographer for families that are looking beyond the perfectly posed portrait in your “Sunday Best” and want something more spirited, authentic, and artistically captures you real life. My favorite clients are adventurous, fun-loving, quirky, and have a desire to showcase that unique spirit in photographically artistic ways.

This blog is where I post my most recent sessions with clients, commercial assignments, my charitable photo projects and my personal photo projects. In additional I want to help parents display and take photos of their kids. I strongly believe that all kids deserve to feel like they are heard and seen int he world, and a great way to do that is through photography.

My hope is that by reading my posts and viewing my work you will see my creative viewpoint and think of me when searching for a photographer to help you create art of your child and family. Or maybe you will pick up on a technique or way of seeing that enables you to capture your kids in a different light. And hopefully you will find inspiration about how to display and showcase photos of your kids and family. Sun flare for Seven

I have been trying to capture sun flare FOREVER. It is not as easy as one might think. In addition, daylight saving ended or started or what ever it just did on Sunday…there was not much of an opportunity to be outside as the sun was going down without freezing our butts off.

So this week Cal turned seven and I had to get the obligatory birthday portrait. Cant you tell he was so happy to participate? But I figured it out, I managed to capture the sun flare. These are not the greatest technically…but I love the little bit of sun flare I was able to catch. And this is so Cal right now. Cant help but love them.
