Often come from beautiful parents.

Sometimes your brother is your playmate, giggling partner, and your best friend.

these pictures are incredible! makes me wish i had 2 sons – just so that you could shoot them!

Instead of lugging out my big camera I bought a Fujifilm Instax Mini. It is the new version of a Polaroid camera, and it is so much fun! I charged Eli with shooting the Instax at the party and we now have this marvelous collection of little shots from his level of the party guests. Needless to say he had Grandma’s friends eating out of the palm of his hand. It warmed my heart to see him take his job so seriously, and also have so much fun with it.
Here are a few of his shots

I love how they are all from an Eli point of view
Thinking back on the day of the GOTR 5K at the National Arboretum, I was a bit out of sorts. I was cold and wet and covered in mud, my camera had fogged up more time than I could count, my makeshift rain coat for my camera was toast, I had been yelled at by a few parents (guess I was in their way) in a nutshell I was GRUMPY. Typically, at the GOTR 5K, my adrenaline is pumping and the spirit of the girls and what they are doing erases what minor discomforts or technical difficulties I may have. So it was a blessing that I had to put this shoot away for a few days to focus on other things. I needed to step away and come back to it with a fresh set of eyes.
A week later as I sat at my computer and poured over the photos one by one, I saw what I knew was there. I just had to look. I saw that spark, that thing that I find so inspiring and amazing.
Depending on your internet connection it might take a moment to fully load (check the progress bar on the lower right), so just be patient. Otherwise click on this link http://www.emilyweissphotography.com/webshow/GOTR4/

I just wanted to tell you that I thought the pictures were wonderful. I came across this as I was checking out the program for my own daughter. It brought tears to my eyes, just watching the young women and imagining my daughter completing such an event for herself. My daughter heard the music playing as I was watching the slideshow and she says “I want a picture with me running.” So now I guess, we will be there at the next GOTR event. Thank you for the images.
I found myself giggling loudly as I watched this slideshow…the joy of completing something that is really challenging…you captured it beautifully.
Thank you…despite the challenges of logistics etc…this makes me willing to take it on again next year!
Awesome images Emily!
Part of the fun of my job is to find to one “thing” that is similar in a family, especially when there are lots of kids. It is always something cute and quirky.
This session for the “S” family on Halloween I spotted it right off the bat…

First I asked them to give me their best “I cant wait for Halloween” face and then their best scary face. I think these shots are hysterical! I say it often to all my clients…Kids who are full of energy and personality photograph well. Don’t you agree?

It was a wet, cold and rainy Sunday morning but it did not dampen the spirits of the girls who came out to run off their excess candy consumption for the Girls on the Run-DC 5K! This was a first for me shooting in the pouring rain. Thank goodness the great folks at Canon make a camera that can withstand the elements.
As always this is such a great event and the enthusiasm and supports is what helps propel the girls to the finish line. Here a a few of my favorites

Race day prints will be ready on (or before) Novemner 11 and can be purchased at http://www.digiproofs.com/GOTR1109/ Password GOTR.
