Emily Weiss Photography Blog bio picture
  • Thanks for visiting!

Hi I’m Emily. I am a Washington, DC fine art child and family photographer. I am the photographer for families that are looking beyond the perfectly posed portrait in your “Sunday Best” and want something more spirited, authentic, and artistically captures you real life. My favorite clients are adventurous, fun-loving, quirky, and have a desire to showcase that unique spirit in photographically artistic ways.

This blog is where I post my most recent sessions with clients, commercial assignments, my charitable photo projects and my personal photo projects. In additional I want to help parents display and take photos of their kids. I strongly believe that all kids deserve to feel like they are heard and seen int he world, and a great way to do that is through photography.

My hope is that by reading my posts and viewing my work you will see my creative viewpoint and think of me when searching for a photographer to help you create art of your child and family. Or maybe you will pick up on a technique or way of seeing that enables you to capture your kids in a different light. And hopefully you will find inspiration about how to display and showcase photos of your kids and family. Please leave me your thoughts, questions or ideas as a comment on the blog, or shoot me an email. I love the door that photography opens for connecting with other people, especially those that are as passionate about photography as I am.

(Day 358) Favorite gifts

I did not realize it at the time but i manged to capture three of his favoite gifts all at once:

1. Drinking glasses – no boy is complete unless he has a pair

2. Family Guy pint glasses – saw them at Target 4 months ago and squirreled them away.

3. Digital watch – his first and it made him (and therefore me) so happy

(Day 357) Christmas Crud

Today, on Christmas, my oldest awoke with a 102 fever.  He was in no shape for anything.    We loaded him up with Advil and hoped it would kick in enough so we could at least open presents, but were planning for the worst.    By 11 he announced he was well enough to open presents, but all our other plans for a big family dinner were off.   He and I stayed home while the rest of our family open their presents at Grandmas and enjoyed the Holiday together.

Yeah…it sucked.

Out of respect to my little boy who lost his Christmas I did not take photo today.

(Day 356)

Ready to Rock and Roll for Xmas

(Day 355) Zoo Lights

Totally worth the ridiculous $16 to park

(Day 354) Chirstams Cookies

(Day 353) Paper Football

(Day 352) He Volunteered

He volunteered for my photo project today. About fell out of my chair…

(Day 351) Shoes or the Highwater Pants

He wanted skater shoes like his brother but part of me still loves the fact that he is growing so fast and we cant keep up with pants.
